Hi and good day. I am given here a .csv file and am asked to open it.In my system, it is associated with MS Excel but it cannot fully load it nor reaD it properly.
The owner of the file (the one who gave me that) said that I have to open it using another program but didn't tell me what.
May I know what programs can open a .csv file?
Thanks.

csv files are ascii files and can be read by virtually any spreadaheat program (excel, lotus) Why did this friend give you the file? Did they tell you why?

When you use Excel to open a .csv file you are presented with a dialog box asking you how it was setup. You must select Comma, Tab or one of the others.
You say it does not open properly. Try selecting one of the other options of how the text was separated.
The most common is comma separated (>>the CS in .csv) even though there are no actual, visable, commas showing in the file.

You can also just change the extension from .csv to .txt and it will open in notepad.
Better yet, right click on the file and select "open with" and choose notepad. If it complains that it's too big for notepad, it will also open in worpad no problem.

i used to use cvs files to keep a record of images i have and check for missing files
a csv files used in the internet stores a collection of images for a particular series and keeps record of what files you have and missing ones. csv is a good way to check if the image is original or beeen modifed or altered from original
i dont remember the software i used to check the csv content but you can look at this site might help

csv files will open as-is in Wordpad.
Hold down the shift key while right clicking the file. Select "Wordpad" or most any word processor application. They are used, i.e., by Outlet Express to save the address book.
