Get 2 cards,
install them.

enable file and printer sharing and the protocols you want(probably IPX or netbeui)
and your set.

I disagree with the respons #2. Anything in computing can appear to be difficult - if you don't first read the directions. Sharing resources of two PC's is not.

Don't know if you have gotten anywhere, but the first reponse refers to simple peer:peer networking enabled by Win95/98 - two network interface cards (as cheap as $10 for a low-end one, 10MB/s as opposed to the later 100MB/s - one that will be just fine for sharing files) and a $8-10 "crossover" ethernet cable. Or you can add a $30-75 "hub" which will allow anywhere from 5-8 networkable devices (PC's, printers, scanners, etc.) to connect using normal "10-Base T" ethernet cables.

Try: http://www.enc.yk.net/Wi95pp.htm
Or: http://www.pcworld.com/hardware/communications/articles/mar97/1503p248b.html

Or: http://www.stomped.com/content/howto/howto.html (don't have to be a PC gamer to follow these instructions.)

I USED ETHERNET CARDS IN THREE CPU'S WITH A HUB, IT WORKS HOWEVER WHEN EVER THE THREE MACHINES WERE WORKING IN THE SAME PROGRAM WE COULD NOT SHARE THE SAME EXACT DATA AT THE SAME TIME THEREFORE I DEVISED A VISUAL MECHANICAL SIGNAL ARRANGEMENT TO ALLOW THE OPERATORS OF EACH MACHINE TO SEE WHAT EACH OTHER IS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH. IF TWO CPU.S TRY TO ACCESS THE SAME DATA THE SOFTWARE APPEARS TO BE LOCKED UP. THE FIRST CPU THAT ENTERED THE PROGRAM CAN STILL FUNCTION AND WILL NEED TO GET OUT OF THE PROGRAM TO ALLOW THE SECOND CPU TO BE ABLE TO FUNCTION AGAIN. THIS MAY JUST BE MY SOFTWARE BUT IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE.

Install on each pc an NIC. Install file and print sharing. Install a protocol, for first time networking netbios is recommended. Now your software based installation is ready. If you have a small hub connect those two pc's to the hub with UTP or something like that. If you don't have an hub you need to have an crosslink cable. Look on the internet how to make a crosslink cable or just buy one... Succes.
