I reformated my comp. using format c: /s but there was no original boot disk with it. It was running Win95 A but had got corrupted. It now tells me no CD drivers are installed even when I boot with a Win98 boot disk or a win95.B. boot disk. My cd is an "NEC Multispin 4x". The only drivers I can find on the web are for "NEC Multispin 2x". I tried these but they dont work. Can anyone help me.... Eddie

I'm not surprised that you had a problem finding the driver. I went round and round looking. But I 'might' have stumbled upon it. Check here:
http://support.necsam.com/storage/drivers/#PC
It looks like the following might be it: IDE_DOS.EXE Size: 52,904 DOS installation disk for the MultiSpin 4V, 6V and 8V IDE CD-ROM readers. Date:08/01/96

The download is an installation file which should install the drivers and configure config.sys and autoexec.bat.
Since you used format c:/s, the system files are loaded and you can boot from the HD. After it boots, insert the floppy disk you copied the downloaded file to and at the c:\> prompt type:
a:\ide_dos
(or however it's exactly named) and hit enter. That should do it.
