I am trying to install Win95 on a laptop. The owner formatted his drive so there is no OS. Now he wants to install Win95 again, but he does not have a CD-ROM (The laptop never came with one). He does however have an external CD-RW. The problem is that the CD-RW is connected through the PCMCIA card. The card of course cannot be detected because there is no OS and the necessary drivers are not in the start-up disk. Anyone have any suggestions?

Some other options would be:
1) If the laptop has an NIC, you could boot with a network bootdisk, connect to another PC that has a CD, & copy the Win95 directory onto the laptop's HD. Then run setup from the HD.
2) Get a serial (poor choice) or parallel (MUCH faster) crossover cable & use Laplink to connect to another PC. Then copy the Win95 directory as above.
3) Temporarily install the laptop's HD into another PC as secondary master & copy the Win95 directory. Then reinstall the HD into the laptop to run setup.
You can get a network bootdisk here:
You can get Laplink here:
For instructions on copying the Win95 directory to the HD, go here:
Copy Win9x Directory to Harddrive
To install the HD into a PC, you'll need a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch HD adapter. If you can't find one locally, you can order one here:
