How do I hide the ''open with'' menu?

i dont think you can hide it... it only comes out when windows doesn't know what application to use to open the file you're opening. if you know what application to use, click "always use... " at the bottom of the "open with" menu and select the correct application and click "OK" to tell windows to open that particular type of file with that application everytime.

G'day Vasilis, go into the Registry and backup this key as a .reg file [name it Unknown or Open_With]
Hkey_Classes_Root\Unknown
and then delete it, gone from menu. If you want it back just merge the unknown.reg and it's back.
Summary: I have many dead links of old programms I uninstalled in the "open with" menu. How can I get rid of them? Usualy I like to fix things like that with the registry but this time... I can't find any ways...
