Got to the HOW TO's on your left of screen and choose the Advanced HOW TO about Partitioning and Formatting, this is about Win95 but should be the same for Win98.

Format seems to be the instant cure for most problems. Try replacing the missing files before you format. If it won't help, nothing lost. If it works, you learned something and am a tech now.
RR, how's the surf and sun?

I just went through this problem last night. The way I finally did it was simple. I downloaded a program called EZDRIVE from a website . Then downloaded to computer, then transfered to a 1.4floppy, then put the floppy in my A: drive and rebooted the computer .
Ez drive then partitions your drive ONLY ONE PARTITION, just like normal. Then everything loaded great!
EZDrive just sets the drive up somehow so eveything can load.

Kevan, Make sure you can access your cdrom with the disc first, put a cd in and type E: or whatever the letter of the cdrom is.
Boot on the start disc and at the A: prompt type in format C: then hit enter.
Type fdisk to get info about the HD, select Y or yes at the first message it gives you to procede to the menu, then #4
You can use fdisk to make one large HD or partition the drive into sections. If you use fdisk, choose LBA or large drive support when it asks.

TO FORMAT YOU COMPUTER. GO TO MY COMPUTER.AND CLICK ON YOUR C DRIVE. SCROLL DOWN AND GO TO COMMAND. WHICH IS A DOS BASED PORGRAM. THEN TYPE IN FORMAT. THEN IT SHOULD BEGIN TO FORMAT. BUT BE SURE TO HAVE ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS SAVED ON A DISK. AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CDS FOR ALL THE PROGRAMS THAT YOU HAVE AND WANT TO REAINSTALL IT. GOOD LUCK.

I installed Linux-Mandrake 7.1 on an 8.0 GB harddrive. Can anyone tell me how to format the harddrive so that I can add it to my system as a slave using Windows 98 OS?
Any help would be appreciated.

I formatted my hard drive and now I cannot access my c: drive. I can only access my a: drive with the startup disk. When I try to access the c: it says c: then goes back to a: again. When I try the d: it tells me it is invalid. Please if someone knows how I could fix it so I can install windows off the cd rom again please tell me I am very upset about the matter.
