tell us about your motherboard, the manufacturer, and model name, then we can tell you what you have.
also the book that came with your board/computer should also tell you,

Tony, how would someone who doesn't know a SIPP from a DIMM from a SIMM have a clue as to what MoBo sits in his case??
Go to www.crucial.com, they'll figure it out easy.

um, most likley he has a book laying around, or a box laying around from the mobo, he may be able to read the model number on it, or if he opens it up, also a company/ model number may be sitting right there somewhere on the board, im sure he can read, i don't take everyone as beeing as stupid as you are.

Quit brawling, crimenie.

Ian, take Me Too's advice and go to www.crucial.com. The'll help you out, even call you if you need to be talked trough the maze of wires.

So simple even cranky Tony could handle it.

And the have good prices if you care to buy some more.

Can't resist this possibly self-deprecating comment. With 15+ years of werking with computers, I've seen way too many a MoBo that took a huge amount of time just to identify. With modern Internet resources, it still isn't that easy. Some MoBo manufacturers appear to be really ashamed of their products, because bunches of em refuse to clearly ID their boards so we can figure out how to service the beasts, months after the packing has been thrown away, or after the machine has changed hands.

BTW Ian, study what comes up on the POST screen(s) and you may see some clues there. Look for anything listing a memory size with the acronyms EDO or SDRAM in BANK x, where x will be some number from 0 to 4. Not all BIOS versions do this, but those that do make answering questions about memory a whole bunch easier.

HTHs
