When you first turn on the machine it shows the CPU info.
Otherwise you can use 3rd party software.

Free and shows many things that are good to know.

Berry, Another way to go is this simple little stand alone program that shows the CPU speed and a graph of the CPU usage.
Look for SeePU It is 389kb unpacked.

Go to http://www.pcpitstop.com, sign up, run your computer through its full tests(which takes just 3 - 4 minutes), then click the "Detailed Summary" link. It'll give you a lot of information about your processor(including its speed), along with information about much of the other hardware in your computer. It's also a great site for dealing with performance problems.
