I have to input a BIOS password on my machine every time I boot up. Could someone please spell out the procedure for removing it?
I realise that the Del key usually get's you
into BIOS but have no idea how you do this when it's password protected.I think it's Award BIOS.

theres a jumper on the motherboard to 'clear' the bios, or, take the battery out overnite.
presto, password gone

Thanks kj
Just thought there ought to be a way to do it from keyboard since I have the password anyway.

Go here for a review about bios passwords and a link to get rid of them.

Will follow the ideas given if all else fails. Seems odd though. If you don't know the password and want to bust through I accept that these techniques are necessary.
What I still have a problem with is that if you put a password in, and later on wish to remove it, that there is no simple way of removing it. I would have thought you should be able to pump your password in, then "do something" to get into BIOS and remove it.

If you know your original password, you should be able to go into your bios and either enter your original and when it asks for the new password leave the area blank and hit enter or just hit the password switch to off. If yor board is older it could have a jumper to turn the password on or off. Lastly if you do have to take out the battery for a few minutes (not overnight, just let the electricity discharge out of the system) and when it asks you for a new password leave it blank and hit enter

Thanks GB
We've probably "done this topic to death" and I now have plenty of ideas.
One query still remains, how do you get into BIOS when you are set up with a password?
