Subject: How do I change IRQs?
Comment:

I am having a problem with my computer freezing whenever data is coming in through my ethernet card...I believe this is happening because my ethernet card and video card both have IRQ 11. This was remedied once when I reinstalled the ethernet card and it was placed at IRQ 9...for some reason it switched back and now the problem persists. IRQ 9 is open and available on my computer...my question is how do I change it? When I go to my device manager is says that "the resource cannot be modified" .. what do I do?

IRQ 9 is a software redirect to IRQ 2. To set the IRQ settings you open your device manager. Then you go into the card causing the problem (if it is an IRQ conflict, you will have a yellow exclemation point to the side of it). Click on resources and uncheck the "use automatic settings" box. Then click on "change settings" button. select the setting you want noticing the devices being used in the lower box.

Hope this helps,

catcole

You can also check the card for IRQ setting jumpers
