Comment: Hi all, While this isn't causing a problem, the CD-ROM drive on my PC is set to drive E - how do I change it to D? And as there is nothing using D, why is it using E in the first place? Thanks in advance.

Reply: (edit)Sorry, neglected to mention I've already tried changing it via Device Manager; while I can select D from the 'Reserved Letters' drop down, after restarting the CD is still stuck on E. I'm also using Win98 SE.

Reply: (edit)Hi there, Have you checked your staartup file for the dos drivers, look in your autoexec.bat in the root of c:. Id it contains a line such as; c:\windows\command\mscdex.exe /l:E /d:MSCD001 or any line containing 'MSCDEX' then type 'REM' in front of that line. It means that when windows starts it is being told to use a different letter before it even looks at device manager. If that doesn't work, have you compressed your drive? If so then it is possible that d: is already taken up by the host of the compressed drive, and is hidden. But unless you have actually compressed your drive then this is not likely. If this hasn't helped let me know and what you found, and i shall see if i can help some more!!

Reply: (edit)Try using a program called msconfig from the start/run. Go to start tab and unclick GDRIVE.
