How do I assign an icon to a batch file?
I have a batch file which has the boring old msDOS icon and I want to change it.

Select the batch file, right mouse, properties, program tab, change icon button.

you cannot do this. You can only do the above if it is a shortcut.
If you want to change the icon it will affect all batch files:-
go into my computer click view,options then the file types tab, select the ms-dos batch file, click edit and you will see a change icon button where you can then select the icon you want.

matt: Apologies. It works BUT it works in a strange way. The icon under Properties actually shows as being changed BUT the side affect is that the icon change creates a shortcut with the name of the BAT file and is displayed with the changed icon. Ain't windows wonderful.
