Reply: (edit)I think you need 3rd party softwares. I am not aware of a password protection for individual folder. I know you can hide icons, restrict access, hide menu, etc. In the registery, but other than that... ??

Reply: (edit)Access restrictions at the file/folder level are generally the bailiwick of Network OS's like NT. RanmaP is correct. You would need 3rd-party software or a network OS.

Reply: (edit)I use a program called Cryptext. It can be used on Win95 or Win98. It doesn't hide the folder, but you can encrypt an entire folder. When installing, it asks you to pick a password. It puts a shortcut in your right click menu. Just right click on any folder or individual file and you can encrypt or un-encrypt. The files will have a 'key in a lock' Icon and the original names are not changed so you know what they are. The files can not be opened, but can be deleted without the password. I've tried several programs in the past, but they were either too complicated by the number of steps involved, or had to be encrypted one file at a time. Cryptext is by far the best, and best of all free. Here is the link http://www.pcug.org.au/~njpayne/
