The Win98 folder on my CD is 173 MB (Win98 SE). 173 MB=121 1.44 MB floppies.

I suspect you are trying to install Windows onto a computer with no CD-ROM. There are many ways to do this. Post back with your specific problem, and we'll be happy to provide some possible remedies.

If you wish to back up your CD to floppy, you will need about 630 disks. My Windows 98SE CD is 675 MB. To back up all that on floppy would take about 5 days continually.

You might be able to open your box, temporarily install a CDROM drive as a slave to your hard drive, boot with a Win98 boot disc and install from the CD. Then remove the CDROM, close the box and run like normal without a CDROM now.

I have a simular problem in that I am trying to get window 98se onto a laptop with no CD Rom. Need reference to the most efficient method (and "cook book") directions to accomplish this manuever. I have parrallel port cable and PC relocator but directions are not clear. It seems that windows needs to be on both source and target to get that software to work. Any suggestions?

Bob

If you have the Direct Connect Cable already then you can download LapLink3 from here: http://www.geocities.com/prestonlewis/ . Hook them together and run LL3 on both machines and then transfer the Win9x folder to the laptop. Install from there. jer...
