Reply: (edit)The IP address is generated by your ISP. It's different every time if you are using dial up connection. It's fixed for cable connection. Just changing it to conceal your identity doesn't work. Use Run-->winipcfg to edit your IP address if you are changing user.

Reply: (edit)I am assuming you have a nic card installed and TCP\IP protocol loaded in the IP stack. To change the IP just right click on network neigborhood and select the properties for the appropriate protocol. If you do not have a network neighborhood icon on your desktop, go to control panel\network and create an IP stack using tcp\ip as the protocol.

Reply: (edit)I am trying to change my IP address. I have a 3 Comm Ethernet Card and I am on a network at school. I go under the start button, and click run and winipcfg and try to release all,and after I do that, and I reboot my computer, I get the same IP. And I try to do it manually instead of automatically choosing one, but it won't let me. Is there another way I am able to change it?
