I have mailed Justin webber, the big boss honcho of this site, with a request for an e-mail forum. Outlook, Outlook Express, Exchange 5.5 and 2000. He does not think that it would get a great deal of readership, but I think it will.
Please let me know what you think. I might be able to get his interest up if enough people think that it is a good idea and reply to this thread.

Thanks in anticipation.

A public newsgroup would be better

I wouldn't want my e-mail address posted on it. Tech people would get driven away from the site as they would just be bombarded with silly tech support requests

Plus the spam mail risk from people picking up e-mail addresses.

Nope I think computing.net have it on the nose as it is!

If you want an email forum, try egroups.yahoo.com. They have a ton of different email groups.

For the amount of messages that this forum generates, I wouldn't want to be receiving that in my mailbox.

umm guys I think you misread it. I don't think he meant an e-mail based forum, I think he meant a forum that covers Exchange and Outlook (and other e-mail clients) the way Computing.net already covers covers windows 9x and NT, and DOS, and Linux...

You wouldn't need to put your e-mail in there, like you don't have to do it in this forum.

It will be the same thing as this one, just covering the topic of E-mail instead of windows. For allt he otehr topics listed on the left, I don't see why E-mail wouldn't fit in =)

I, for one, would LOVE it so I wouldn't have to keep going to here for my WIN questions, and www.win2000mag.net/Forums/ for my Exchange and Outlook questions.

I'm with ya, Lee!

Seeing how the structure of these boards are, I can see why Justin wouldn't want to add a separate category for email. The categories are currently setup according to OS (and a couple of networking ones).
If he was to create a separate forum for email, then he'd probably get tons of requests for different forums for other application specific problems (e.g. : gaming problems/compatibilities, MSOffice problems, PhotoShop problems, etc..).
Granted, the categories as they are setup now tend to be very general and I can see where you're coming from in wanting a separate forum for email related problems.
Personally, I think it wouldn't be worth it to create a separate forum for emails as I don't typically see an abundance of email related questions on the boards. If even 25% of the postings were email related, then I could see needing a separate forum for email.
