I can get into ms-dos now I just need 2 know where the file is and how 2 edit it. ANY HELP would be awesome. Merry Christmas All.

Reply: (edit)dragon, I'm assuming that your primary partition is your NT partition since it loaded that by default. So you need an NTFS bootup disk which can be made with the files from "www.bootdisk.com". Once you've booted with that you should be able to see your boot.ini file with a "dir" command and then you can edit it by typing: "edit boot.ini". good luck, wired

Reply: (edit)Just so you know in the future, you don't have to edit the boot.ini file to manage the boot menu. If you get back up and running, boot into Win 2000 and RIGHT click "My Computer", choose the "advanced" tab. Then click "startup and recovery". From here you can choose which Operating System will be the default, and allow you to set how many seconds you want the menu to stay, to give you the choice to boot to the other one (Win98 in your case). I hope you made a back up copy of your boot.ini file before you altered it. Good Luck raincheck

Reply: (edit)Make sure you're typing it exactly like Mesich said, because it is NOT a bad command. Note the spaces, and where there are not spaces. attrib -r-a-s-h boot.ini (hit enter) edit boot.ini (hit enter) Let us know how you do this time...

Reply: (edit)Are you sure your boot.ini file is still there, those commands are fine? raincheck did a little typo (don't we all). You MUST have the spaces each side of -r -h -s -h as given by mesich. D
