hot to speed up print spooler?

I have a PII 256 ram win98 with a new HP laserjet 2100(4 meg ram). seems like it takes a long time to send a print job over..anyway to speed up the printing? thnx

You've probably checked these, but.....

Check the spooler settings (right-click on the printer icon, Properties, Details, Spool settings. If it's set at EMF, try changing this to RAW. Disable bidirectional printing to see if that makes a difference. If it's a large print job, make sure it's set to start printing after the first page not the whole document.

Presumably the printer drivers are the latest ones if it's a new printer, but it's worth checking on the HP site to make sure, as is checking the Microsoft site for the latest spooler files. Depending on what you're printing, too, lots of graphics or lots of fonts on a page can slow it down considerably.
