Horizontal Grey Lines on Monitor

I am experiencing difficulties with what I think could be either the monitor or the video card. Grey horizontal lines appear on the screen. We have used the video card and monitor for quite a while with no problems. It just seemed to happen sudddenly. Can you please help me?

Easiest test is to hook up another monitor and see if it's the same.

I had that happen to me as well, turned out the video card had overheated. I had to replace it... Also, if you don't have another moniter, a good way to check is to unplug the moniter from the computer, and turn it on to see if it does the self test or whatever, basically just see if it still has the lines on it. If it does, it's the moniter. If it doesn't, its the video card.

You are right! It's either the monitor or the video card. Substitution is the best and eaiest way to determine which it is.
