I have a Viewssonic 17" monitor, worked very well, recently I noticed the display quality was down and there are faint horizontal bars for every other line or so. I checked the manual and it has no troubleshooting for this. I checked my display and the quality is high color, so do I need to adjust it, or some other trick? It works fine, it's still good quality, but it lost something, I need to kick it back up to high definition...... thanks, :)

Try it on a different system to see if you get the same resuslts. If you don't then try updating the graphics drivers. If you do then the maoitor is defective.

Ensure the refresh rate is between 60 and 75 Hertz. Strictly refresh rate doesn't apply to LCD monitors but sometimes a small shift within these limits can help minor problems of this type. If the manufacturer recommends a particular setting then use that (or something pretty close). some other bloke...

Checked the refresh rate, it's ok, 75 verticle, 60 horizontal. Forgot to mention, there is an error message from the monitor,"RGB, no input signal"...... Troubleshooting says, "check cable" ....it's ok, changed screen size, no change, could be defective..........

I remember some time beck of a similiar problem. The problem in that case was one of the pins on the end of the VGA cable was broken off and lodged in the female connector.
