Specs: Windows 98SE, 128MB

I have my home page in internet explorer set to http://www.yahoo.com/ but everytime I start this page i get the above mentioned i.e. http://www.yahoo.com/?rs=1

What is this ?rs=1 ? I'm worried it could be a trojan/worm or something else.

Go to
http://www.safer-networking.org

hit "english", then (top left corner) hit "download", scroll down on that page and download the top version (spybot search an.... 1.4)
click "download here" beside it,
restart your computer in "safe mode" (after you've installed it) and run spybot.

Have you tried changing your home page in your "internet options"? Even if you haven't and now did, download spybot.

Post back with your results.

While you're in "internet options" (under tools menu) be sure to "delete cookies" and "delete files" (all offline content too).

Its not a virus and its nothing to worry about. Anything after a question mark in a URL is a parameter to be passed to an active server page. As you entered the site without any parameters, it is just inserting a default parameter in order to load the default page.

Look at the URL of this site. There shoud be Windows 95 after the URL pointing you to the Windows 95 forum.
