It seems that everytime I try to open a video (.mpeg .mpg .avi etc.) the player freezes (realone and windows media player 7.1). But, when i go to control-alt-delete and "end task" it. the computer totally freezes up. Infact, usually when i try to control-alt-delete and end task anything the computer freezes. Now this may not sound like a video problem, but here's the seller. Whenever I go to connect to a server of Counter-Strike. It comes up with the natural LOADING screen that tells you that OpenGL is loading (or something) and it freezes. And like before when i control-alt-delete it, it freezes and i gotta restart totally. I've done and up-to-date virus scan and scandisk, and they both turn up nothing. I went to my "Add/Remove program" menu, and saw at the very bottom a program names "Your Cash Rewards" i dont know if thats because of AOL (which i've uninstalled long ago) or what.

Probably one more thing i should add here, this all happened after i had to download a few drivers from the internet so i could run my webcam which doesn't even work now. Maybe it could have been a faulty video driver i downloaded that is causing the problem. Either way, if ANYONE has ANY idea, please reply. For you that play Counter-Strike you know how annoying it is to be kept away from it.

Oh and my video card is a Geforce 2
and my Computer is a Dell Dimension 4300 1.5ghz
running a dual-boot of Windows 98 and Windows 2000
This problem is currently on windows 98. (Not sure if its the same problem with Windows 2000)

I did try moving the accelerator tab down a few, but that did not fix it.
I really think it may be a driver problem, are there any diagnostic programs out there that can log everything that is happening to the computer realtime and save it as a document so i can see what is freezing the computer up?

well.. 2 problems i see.. that odd entry in your add remove programs "your cash rewards".. sounds like adware or spyware. Kill it.

And, "real 1" sucks, no offense to faithful real player enthusiasts, but the fact still remains that it sucks.

Good luck with it.

I used ad-aware to scan my system. I got rid of some of the stuff it found, but the "Your Cash Rewards" is still there. Any more ideas?

I know real 1 sucks, but i thought i might just been a Windows Media Player problem so i downloaded real1.
