Comment:

After restarting the computer several times, i still get a message on the a black screen saying "While initalising device IOS: ERROR: Real Mode system memory allocation failed."

So, i decided to check my ram and that was still okay despite changing the slots around. Afterwards, i decided to do a step-by-step configuration, after booting the computer in safe mode.

I finally got into Windows but only not loading up the Himem.sys file since that seems to be the problem. But also there were other problems in the devices. Several devices such as the Primary Bus Master IDE Controller, Secondary Bus Master IDE Controller and Standard Floppy Disk Controller which state that the device may not be present or not installed properly.

It also did not load up the CD ROM drives (I have a DVD-ROM and CD-RW), so i cant use any CDS. Everything, except the above seem fine and still have conflicts and the system states in the properties that Compatibility-mode paging reduces overall system performace, so video games probably dont work yet.

i dont know what else to do, except ask and wait for help on this. I also will supply what is in the bottom of the Himem.sys file after editing the file.

If himem.sys is loading in config.sys, disable it. Once you get into windows run msconfig, click selective startup and click off config.sys and autoexec.bat.

If that's not it, your RAM could still be bad. Go into cmos and disable 'fast startup'. That usually will provide a better RAM check. There's also software you can download that will check your memory. I don't have the URL's but someone may post back with the info.

Windows most likely doesn't like your hardware configuration in BIOS.

I've had this problem many times trying to OC the CPU and RAM.

Set everything to Defaults then try.

if works, set one thing at a time to specification.

if still no work it may be a corrupt installation

if your in safe mode it disables all unnecessary drivers so windows will work.
