I have a worksheet that will get sent to several people. It is interactive, meaning that they will be able to edit cells by putting in their own info. I have calculations in separate columns and then I hide those and have it only show the result. My problem is, obviously another person will be able to unhide the columns and have access to the calc's. If I lock the cells that I don't want seen and then protect the worksheet, when you put in any info, the calc's don't work! What can I do? Is there a way to hide that info only...can I put all my calc's in another worksheet and hide the whole worksheet?
Thanks!

Is this Excel, Quattro Pro, Lotus, or some other spreadsheet software?
Life's more painless for the brainless.

Office forum would have been the place for this one.
If it happens to be Excel then you can arrange to protect certain columns only. From memory (not 100% reliable LOL) I think you protect the whole worksheet first then unprotect the areas where you wish to allow changes.
You can also create a password for saving changes (which I've never tried). It is all in Excel Help.

I'm sorry, Excel!
As far as the protecting (Derek), I don't see where or how I protect the worksheet then unprotect the cells that they can work in. Plus when I use the protection, it seems to mess up the results of the calc's.

I went to an old Excel 2000 worksheet where I'd protected certain areas way back then used Help to reminded me about the procedure:-
First unprotect the whole sheet (Tools/Protection).
Next select the cells you wish to lock or unlock.
From the Format/Cells/Protection tab tick or untick protection.
Repeat with other cells as required.
Protect sheet (Tools/Protection).
Not quite like I said but I might have been thinking back to Office 97 or some other spreadsheet program.

Just checked one I did on trig.
I had this line of intermediate calculations in a cell which was protected:
=ACOS((B11^2+C11^2-A11^2)/(2*B11*C11))
It worked just fine.

Derek, I did just as you explained and it is working! The only difference that I had to do after 'protect workbook' is 'protect worksheet' because it still allowed the ability to unhide columns. I ran a couple of tests and it seems to be calculating! Thank you so much for your help!!!!
Kim

Glad to have helped you on your way.
If you ever get any other queries of this type the best place to post is the Office Software forum. It was just that by chance I recalled doing something of this sort in Excel way back.
