I don't know why... Every time I start my computer ever since yesterday.. It's been loading fine until after the loading screen goes away.. then it stops completely.. Everything froze.. I tried pressing my NUM LOCK key.. Because if the light goes off that means it's still not frozen.. but it is.. I've tried everything.. Scanned it with.. Norton.. Ad-aware.. Defrag.. Scandisk.. And I thought maybe too much programs since my comp can only hold up to 15 GiGs and it's taking up 3.20 and so I uninstall but no effect.. I've even installed the HIMEM.SYS because the comp was asking for it when I started with my boot disk... also the color is only up to 16 even when the other options are there.. If it's not set up to color 16 won't work properly.. I have a ATI drive.. HELP!

If using Win-9x(?)
Might suggest boot while tapping F8 key to get the start-up menu, pick starting in safemode and see if it start windows in Safe Mode and runs OK. If it seems OK (you can check your systems, files, etc) then reboot normally to Windows. Sometimes just booting into safemode allows Windows to correct things!

If this doesn't work then reboot to the start-up menu again (F8 prior to Windows load)and pick "Command Prompt Only". This will put you into DOS. At the prompt type "scanreg/restore" (no quotes) this will give you a choice of about 5 days of earlier days to restore a copy of your Registry (prior to the problem) Pick a date before the problem started.

If this doesn't fix it then post back.

Why do you think that the OS, CPU & RAM are not applicable to this problem? They may well be apllicable to the answers given.
