Subject: Help. windows will not load again!OS: Windows 98CPU/Ram: 16Model/Manufacturer: Toshiba T2150 CDT |
Comment: Help, I have another problem with windows 98. I am trying to get an old laptop running, it’s a Toshiba T2150cdt I had it up and running but I was getting an error message vnetbios. Vxd-missing So I followed Microsoft’s help and thought I had sorted it, when I rebooted windows vanished. So I partioned and formatted again, now it simply will not load windows, I know windows are there it gives me a flash when I start up but they will not load. When I try to start in safe mode I get a message saying windows is bypassing your start up file.I have been down the list and tried them all. Please can any one help! This is a learning curve for me albeit a very frustrating mop

Reply: (edit)"So I partioned and formatted again, now it simply will not load windows,". Yes exactly. If you reformatted, Windows will indeed not load, because it doesn't exist on the system. You'll have to reinstall the Operating System. Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Reply: (edit)That msg will usually result from an unformatted drive. So the question is, did you format the C: drive? And what was the result? ===================================== If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

Reply: (edit)... wow - there's a lot of that going around - I'm still dizzy from the last few ; ) Always a little easier to fathom when everyone's using the same terminology (instead of the uniquely personal kind) - quoting error messages helps to get everyone on the same page too. All's well that ends well We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true
