Hi Guys! My computer is running fine but earlier I wanted to use my video graphic card(All in Wonder Pro 128) as a 2nd monitor.I was able to do this, but noticed in the process, I lost all my icons on my desktop.I see the words but not the icons that appear above. Can you help please? Thanks so much!I am running Win98se.

CONTROL YOUR DESKTOP ICONS

Folks I have taken this from the November 5, 2002 issue of PC Magazine
It works in Win 98, ME, 2K & XP

When you temporarily change your desktop to a lower resolution----while using Safe mode, for example----Windows can wreak havoc with your careful positioning of desktop icons. A free download, available at www.pcnineoneone.com/tweaks/layout.zip, lets you save and later restore your icon layout.

Download Layout.zip and unzip it to extract two files; Layout.dll and Layout.reg. Move Layout.dll to the Windows\System32 folder. Double-click on Layout.reg to add it to the Resistry.

If you now right-click on almost any of the standard desk-top icons, My Computer, Recycle Bin, etc. you'll see two new items: Save Desktop Icon Layout and Restore Desktop Icon Layout. Choose the former whenever you change the layout; choose the latter when you need to restore it. I suggest that if the icons are as you like them now Click Save Desktop Icon Layout and you will be all set up.
Be sure to remember what Save and Restore do.

I'm a little late but you may want to aquire the program "Roxio Go Back" for future problems of this and many other natures. Not only does it allow you to return your system in it's entirety to a time when all was well but in your case of not being able to reboot at all "Go Back works even if you can't get windows up and it is very simple and clear even to a true beginner to which group I definitely belong. I do understand your move to re-format as I have chosen that action myself in the past because I knew it would cure all software ills, presumably. These were just some thoughts I had.
