PCMCIA USB Cards are 32bit CardBus a 486 will only support 16bit PCMCIA Cards.

I would look at other options, putting any money into a 486 would be a waste I would think. I have seen refurbished Pentium 3 notebooks for around $300.00. Check out http://www.pricewatch.com/notebooks...

If you really must use the 486 and windows 95 and have a floppy disc drive look up flashpath on ebay or somewhere similar.

FlashPath SmartMedia Memory Card Reader Floppy Disk Adapter by SanDisk to be exact.

I had one once I used to transfer large files to and from a old 486 though kinda slow it worked fine. If you cannot find them I have windows 95 drivers for one somewhere.

I think it supported 32mb card? maybe higher but 32 is all I had.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.21ghz

If you get a 16-bit Cardbus Compact Flash Card adapter you can insert the card into the laptop that way, copy files, then remove the adapter, install the card in a USB CF reader, and read it on modern systems.

Of course the adapter is worth more than the computer.
