I downloaded a Virus Scanner to my computer. You know, you download the program to a file and then click on it to install. I wanted to also put the scanner on another computer that is not connected to the net. I tried copying the file that I downloaded to a floppy but I got a message saying the file is too big for the floppy. I've been told that I can compress or maniipulate the file in such a way using Winzip so that I can send it to multiple floppys and then load it on to my other computer. Several people have told me I can do this some how but none will take the time to go into any detail. I've tried figuring it out from the help file and the winzip website but I can't work it out. Would someone be kind enough to post the steps. I'd be eternally grateful,

Pete 2.
p.s. I also have winrar if anyone knows how to do it with that.

Hi Pete
Open your WinZip, klick help-FAQ
There you can find some clues to what you are looking for. I found this, pasted in below from WinZip. It might help you

WinZip makes it easy to create Zip files that “span” multiple disks. This is useful if the files you are working with will not fit on one disk.

To make a Zip file that spans multiple disks, simply create a Zip file on a removable disk, then add files to the Zip as you normally would. If the disk fills during Add operation, you will be prompted for another disk. Simply insert the next disk and click the OK button.
Important: disk spanning is not available when adding files to an existing archive; it is only available while creating a new archive. Also note that you cannot add or remove files from a Zip file that spans disks. WinZip requires pre-formatted disks (you can format disks using My Computer or the Windows Explorer).

Example:
To zip the files in your c:\data folder to a Zip file called A:\DATA.ZIP:

1. Start WinZip.

2. Drag and drop the c:\data folder from My Computer or the Windows Explorer to the WinZip window.

3. In the Drop dialog box, type the filename of the Zip file (A:\DATA.ZIP).

4. Click the Add button.

If more than one disk is needed, you will be prompted for additional disks.

Ensure Automatic is selected under Disk Spanning, after Drive A is selected as target.

Johnny/Mick C,

Johnny... thanks for the post. I think I've worked it out from these instructions...well I got the virus scanner onto the other computer and it works so that's the main thing. A lot of people post very brief responses to queries which is their prerogative I guess, afterall no-one's getting paid for this, but sometimes it takes a bit of figuring out, which is half the fun I suppose but if you want to get something done quickly it can be a bit frustrating...so thanks heaps for the effort you put into the reply: I really appreciate it.
Mick C... thanks for the tip.
