Help, saving pictures! Can anyone tell me what got changed. In internet explorer when I right click on a photo to save it my only choice that comes up is SAVE AS “bitmap”. It has always given me a choice and I used jpeg. I have no idea why it all of a sudden has changed. Thank you for your help. Don

Hi,
I'm using IE5.03 & IE5 Web Accessories. (which I downloaded from www.SureCool.com )
The following is how it works on my sys using W98Se & Photosuite 8.0 as my default graphics program, & while online of course.
Now, before this gets too confusing understand there are two methods of saving graphics from web pages at play here.
1. Launching the "Save picture as" option.(SPA)
2. Launching the "Save target as" option. (STA)
Using SPA, if I rt clk on a .jpg I can save it as a .jpg or .bmp, or if I rt clk on a .gif then the save options are .bmp & .gif.
Now,if I use the IE5's web acc tool "images list" by rt clicking on a blank portion of the web page & then rt clk on the image URL it will launch the menu that has the STA option. In the Save As box, the Photosuite image is listed as the default graphics program, & it will save it as a .jpg, or .gif as the case may be.
As well this affords the option of manually changing the extension to whatever format I choose, with respect to the formats that Photosuite supports of course.
In conclusion since I don't know the OS & version, or the browser version this may not apply.
In W98 1st edition & later, goto the tools button in the System Info Utility by typing: msinfo32 in the run (command) box then clk tools & select Internet Explorer Repair Tool. Note: In IE4.xx versions it's not available either.

Even though the only choice shown is Bitmap. You can still type in the three letter extention for jpeg and it will be saved as a jpeg.
Some sites even try to prevent you from saving pictures with the mouse using Right Click. You can still save these pictures by highlighting the picture and choosing save in the File Menu.
As for the sites that disable the file menu save. You can make note of the name of the picture and later move it out of the TIF.
