Toggle F8 ( when , verifying DMA pool message comes on ) or Press
Ctrl during bootup , depends on your computor , choose Command prompt
only ( NOT Safe mode Command prompt ), then at the C: prompt , type Scandisk /all & press Enter .
When finished , type win & press Enter .

If that doesn't work then you have an unrecoverable hard drive and probably need to get a new one.

You could try a "low-level" or write zeros utility. Go to the website of your hard drive's manufacturer, support/downloads, and download this problem to make a bootable floppy. This often works.

Hey John:

What does what you say have to do with reformatting a hard drive?

You are bypassing the startup files (F*) then running scandisk (which is a good thing to do normally) and then typing win (which starts up Windows which is not even loaded yet).

Hey Sterling_Aug, What you on??? Can I have sum???
what he is saying is VERY consistent with formatting a HDD that has developed "Bad Sectors".....................

The drive is not even formatted, SO, I ask, HOW CAN HE BYPASS STARTUP FILES AND START 'WIN'???
