Please help me some one... I uninstalled msn from my computer and now my computer gives me an illegal operation has occurred and will be shut down... it says in the details that explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Explorer.exe at 061f: 00401f31.... now my computer will not start up even in the safe mode... right after I hit the enter button on the log window the illegal operation pops up and that is all my computer does... I have restored the registry, reloaded windows 98, I am burned out... what can I do...

Hello olcow, have a look here http://help.live.com/(ZmlsdGVyPURIX0ZSRUUmcHJvamVjdD1tZXNzZW5nZXJ3MTEmbWFya2V0PWVuLVVTJmN1PSZ0bXQ9JmtjPSZmb3JtYXQ9)/Help.aspx?filter=DH_FREE&querytype=keyword&query=gnimaor_stcatnocenilffo&fs=1

If not there, click on Get More Help bottom Right of the above webpage. Then click on Get More Technical Help. Fill it in and give as much detail as possible, inc windows you use etc, the more the better.
Takes upto 2 Days to get back to you.

Don't forget to include the Fault 016F etc

You seem to be a bit stuck. If it comes to it you could reformat and re-install but that obviously loses everything.

The other way (which should preserve your own documents but still lose all or most of your programs) would be to delete the "Windows" folder from DOS, then try Windows overlay again. It may even prove necessary to delete the "Program Files" folder as well.

Either way make sure you know your Product Key.

Hold on though, in the hope that someone can see some neater way forward.

Subject line is at least a variation on "Please Help" which we see all the time on here. Not surprisingly, most posters on here are seeking help.

So ... tip for the future. Please try to summarise the problem in the subject line. "Illegal operation after MSN uninstall" would have been done nicely. That way you attract the helpers who might know the problem best.
