Comment: when i go to the control panel and click on the network icon, nothing happens, it doesn't freeze up or anything. all the other icons in there work just fine. please help jake

Reply: (edit)Do a search for the file Netcpl.cpl (it should be in c:\windows\system). Double clicking this file should open the Network applet. If it doesn't then try replacing it from your W98 CD. You just type sfc in the Run box and then use the "extract one file" feature. Note, that sfc is fine to replace this file as it is never updated.
