Hello, I recently sent a bunch of files from my cpu to my parents cpu (we are using bellsouth 2wire home portal). I sent the files through yahoo messenger/i zipped a bunch of files in one folder. I did it because their cpu has the cd burner and I was running out of space. When I burned the data cd all my documents/pics etc... opened fine. But when I try'd to open the zip folder holding the mp3s--first it started extracting the files and once complete i recieved the message IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE YOUR SYSTEM IS CONFIGURED PROPERLY TO VIEW THE FILES. I clicked the help button and it gave links to programs used to view jpeg bitmaps etc...But it didnt give me any program to view/listen to mp3s. Anyone know what program I need? Or any other advice for this problem? Thanks

You can use Windows Media Player which should be on their machine.

Yes winzip was trying to open the file with notepad after it finished extracting the file I try'd to open it with windows media and it said windows media doesn't support the file. I'm lost--I put about 40 mp3s in one zip folder so that i could transfer the folder to my parents cpu. So know i don't know how i can open the folder to listen to the files. But thanks Grasshopper for your help.

Upgrade your windows media player Click here

Try using another player like win amp, though it looks like in the process of compression, transmittng and decompression , the file is somehow damaged. You may have to send the files across to your parents again.

I meant upgrade the codec, not necessarily the whole package. You might want to download those codec packages that contain an audio upgrade.

After unzipping the file with Winzip don't have Winzip try to play the files.

Go to the folder you unzipped them to in order to make sure that you see the 40 .mp3 files (ensuring that they are in fact .mp3 files). Right click on one of them and select either 'Play' or Open.

Alternately, open Windows Media Player, go to File, Open and navigate to the folder you had unzipped them to and select one of them to play.

Did that work?

Thanks Bryan and Kailas. I'm sorry for this late response. I was away from my cpu yesterday. Yes Bryan your method worked and I appreciate it very much. And Kailas one zip I sent I had to resend as you stated now everything is working fine.
