I have formatted the C drive on my PB PC and when I try to reload windows the PCI serial controller hall three ? marks against it I cannot find any drivers to reload. This is causing a could not detect window when trying to reconnect the PC to the internet. modem not to work and errors appearing

You are going to have to install the drivers that came with your system for the modem. If you don't have the original disk, you may be able to find a generic driver for a pci modem, but I suspect you'll need the specific drivers for that system. I would start by checking to see if you have disk with drivers, and if not go to http://www.packardbell.com/
and request support.I've only had one of their computers and didn't like it.

Do you have both the CD and the floppy? If so you need to install the floppy and the CD and reboot. It should ask if you want to fix the files reload windows and somthing else i can't remember this is the way you need to reload your packard bell computer.

what pac bell pc do you have? i have one and you need the master restore cd as well as the floppy. e-mail me with your info i may have what you need. will be more than glad to get it to you, having a pac bell is bad enough, as well i know. KEN

hi Ken
Thanks for replying :)
Ive loaded windows 98 onto the packard bell now.... But.... theres always a but.....
I have one problem....
I need the pci serial driver (windows cant detect it, and a generic pci driver doesnt work)....
Have you got a pci driver which i could use...
The mother board is a pb640.....
Everything else works fine except the pci sockets.... And this means i cant use my modem...
If you dont have the drivers, a Packard bell boot disk could be handy....
Unless you have any other ideas....
Hope you can help
Keith

I have loaded the modem drivers I have because it is a recently purchased Rockwell 56K they seem to be loaded OK but I still cannot seem to get any response from the modem. The PCI serial controller has an error asking for drivers which the win98 cd does not contain where can i get these.

we have a packard bell model number pb2900 and have nothing but trouble with this computer . the last time this puter crashed we had someone look at it. he got it back and running and now we need to reformatt hd and our master restore diskette ver 3.2W is no good. it will not copy nothing.. if anyone has one and can help us get a copy of it..let me know PLEASE ! this has been nothing but a nightmare owning a packard bell...
