Reply: (edit)From windows desktop, press the Start button, then Run, in the window that pops up, type SYSEDIT, the Windows Configuration Editor window should pop up, click on the file WIN.INI. At the top of the configuration editor window click Search, then Find... in the find window type MTRR.VXD then click Next, if it finds it, type a ; at the start of the line with MTRR.VXD in it. If it doesn't find it, click on the SYSTEM.INI file and then press the F3 key... if it finds it refer above, if not, you're on your own. I have had this problem also, I got that error after unsuccessfully installing DirectX 6.
