Help!!! My PC cannot boot from hard drive

My PC cannot boot from hard drive. I can boot it from the floppy.
What I did,
(1) I did format the C disk, using “format C: /S”. My pc still cannot boot from hard drive.
(2) I reinstalled the OS Windows 98. After the related files were copied to hard disk C, it restarted. But the problem is still there --- cannot boot from the hard drive.

Please help me. Thanks

Wood

Boot with the bootdisk and run fdisk. Y to large disk support then option 2. Is the partition set active?

If that isn't it, exactly what error message do you get when trying to boot from the HD?

When I tried to boot from hard drive, there was no special error message, just asking for a boot disk.

And I also tried the fdisk. And found that the C is active

In my mind, there is no some special configurating options in cmos.

Ok, what happened between the last time you could boot from that HD in that computer and the first time you couldn't?

You might want to check the jumpers on the hard drive if you have it set to slave and it is the only harddrive then I don't think that it would boot from the hard drive. Not positive just something to check out.
