I was given a computer to look at. I turned it on and all of a suden it shuts off by itself, so i decided to use the quick restore cd on it, the guy did not care for his info so i did that, now the computer shut off during the middle of the quick restore. Why does it do that, Is it the battery, or the Power Supply? If anyone can help me please do.

Consider Replacing the power supply, or test it. The battery will have nothing to do with the PC shutting down, all the battery is for is to keep the BIOS setting in the CMOS Chip. Also consider the CPU Temp, some manufacters have a " cutting off" point to stop the CPU from frying. Hope this helps.

Unplug and replug the power supply from your power supply to motherboard. That is usually the problem.
