Reinstall Internet Explorer. This is file part of the IE5, as mentioned in the following MS knowledgebase article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q194177

Lop.com is a search engine that offers to install a "toolbar" for internet explorer.
There are instructions for uninstalling the toolbar at lop.com here:
How can I remove the accessory toolbar?Complete with a handy-dandy uninstall.exe download.
After you have done this... also clean out the c:\windows\downloaded program files folder in case it installed an activex control. None of these are important and you will be prompted for redownload the next time you need one.
Next... at the top of internet explorer click on the serch icon. Click on Customize and make sure IE is not still set to use lop.com as your search engine. If you cannot get rid of Lop.com take a look at this link for other ideas:

This very offensive feature provided by the 'kind' people of lop.com can also be manually removed by removing these registry keys if they point to lop.com:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main: Search bar
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main: Search bar
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search: SearchAssistantAlso, you should remove the file dnserror.htm from your Windows directory, that is placed here by the plugin (look at the date or open it in Internet Explorer to confirm this).
Hope this helps,
Berend Engelbrecht

I finally got it. First search the registry for any lop.com entries and delete all of them. Do the same with the find files thing.
Restart your computer and search for plg_ie0.dll or just plg_ie0. Delete it. (You have to restart first to unload the .dll file, be sure to delete the dll before running IE as to avoid loading the dll into the memory) then after deleting it, search the registry for plg_ie0 and delete the 5 or so entries in there. That's what did it for me. So good luck.
