Hi This is the problem that I am having...I have a hp pavilion 6343 with windows 98..when i turned it on it ewnt to invalid system disk even when there was no disk in it. ok..i have no recovery cd or boot disk..so i went to bootdisk.com and d/l one..but it did bot work it only said the same message..so my friend has a hp with windows me on it..I created a boot disk with it ..i can get i to the a prompt or the c promt..I can run fdisk or autoexec.bat. and i can get into the bios..But pc still goes to same message when i take the disk out...but now it says operation system not found..Is there any way I can get a copy of a windows 98 recovery or boot CD?
i think it needs the cd because it does not boot. I can get into the bios and i can see the diron the boot disk also. Can I get the information on how to use this disk if i am doing it wrong?

Thanks.

If the computer still has the original windows 98 install, there is a folder, C:\Windows\Options\Cabs, that contains all the Windows 98 install cabs. Boot with startup disk, at A: prompt, type C:, enter. Type CD Windows\options\cabs, enter. Type SETUP, enter. Windows 98 should reinstall.

Hi:if you still getting the missing operation message after you follow the procedure on post #1 chances are you do have a virus over your partition table
it doesn,t Hurt if you do check for a virus

use the bootdisk to boot.

when you get to the A:\ prompt - type SYS C: and press enter.

remove the floppy and reboot.

This message (Invalid Media) is usually only delivered if the drive in question has not been formatted.
Have you used FDISK to remove and re-create the partitions on the drive.

By the sounds of this, you will need to format the drive and install the Operating System. When the install is finished ALL the drivers (video, sound, printer and modem) will need to be installed also.
