Hi There, Can anyone help me, my computor was running fine untill my son draged on a lot of files in the c drive and moved them into the recycle bin, now my computor only has an option of 2 colours or 16, it used to have 256. I have tried everything to get it back on but nothing works, can anyone help me get back 256 Colours Regards Heath

You need a display card(graphics card) driver. Usually available from the manufacturers website.

Hi Well your system is running, so your device driver is likely to be intact. Check by - right mouse click /my computer click /properties then /device manager then /display adaptor. Does it say the device is functional. Looks ok then: With the cursor on the screen area right mouse click. then click /properties then /settings. This will bring up a box with some settings. In the left box, there is a pull down menu on the right side of the box. Select 256 and try that. apply etc.

Hi Heath. If you think it was caused by the files going into the bin, simply highlight them in the bin and restore them back to where they came from. Or you can go to Start/Run/ and type scanreg /restore and select a date to set the register back to before the files were moved. Have a nice day.

Heath, Response #1 stated the normal fix for this problem. It's usually caused because windows is using the `standard' Display Adapter. You can confirm this by going to the Device Manager and checking. You need to reload the correct driver.
