Wipe out the HDD without wiping out the OS? Of course. Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall the Programs you don't want. Manually remove the data that you don't want.

Wipe out the HDD without wiping out the OS will not help make your Windows as robusting as when you first install it.

The best way is to use

http://www.killdisk.com

to totally wipe the drive, then fdisk/format and install Windows as a totally new O/S.

I cannot re-install windows, I do not have the disk. It was already loaded on the computer when given to me, and I have already tried to add/remove programs. I am trying to get rid of all the junk on the computer.

Without a License you are using Software Illegally, you should have some means of re-installing and CoA !!

Besides it is probably the registry that is causing you most of your problems. Reinstalling the OS is often the only way of sorting that out. Deleting things will almost certainly lead to you deleting something important eventually.

Running a computer with any means of reinstalling the OS is just a disaster waiting to happen. Just don't use the computer for anything important.

You can probably pick up a 95 cd for a few dollars on ebay. Or you may be able to borrow one from someone and use your existing product key. For 95 you can find the product key by opening 'system' in control panel. It should be listed under 'registered to'.

The OS, file structure and registry are integrated together on your system after install. There is no way to wipe the HD leaving just the OS behind.

If you pick off files you will still leave the registry entries and produce a very confused system. Many a computer has been wrecked that way on here - its almost a certainty.

You need a W95 CD.
