For some reason my IBM Aptiva 2174 is having a problem with drive letter assignment for my CD Rom Drive. I had some problems and went into the BIOS and reset the default settings. The computer had been shipped to me and dropped in handling. All is working. The CD Rom is recognized and the hard drive is fine. The problem I am having is that it recognized the CD Rom as a G Drive. It should be D as I only have one hard drive (20 gig Western Digital) I have almost 17 gigs of space left. System is running on Fat 32.
Is there someone that can walk me through the process of resetting drive letters so I can get the CD Rom set at D. I can't get anything to load from the CD because it is looking for a CD Rom as Drive D and not at the current drive G. Thanks so much.

here's what you do...
right click my computer, left click properties. Left click device manager tab. Then, left click the plus by cd-rom, and then double click on your cd rom drive (or left click it once and then click properties at the bottom). Click on the Settings tab, and at the bottom you will see 2 drop down boxes... one labeled start drive letter and the other labeled end drive letter. Use the drop down box to change the start letter to D:. You don't HAVE to do anything with the end drive letter as it's not a multi-disc unit, but if you would like to, you can set that to d: as well.
Then click ok, and ok again to exit device manager, and you will be told to reboot. Do this and then your drive should be at D: instead of G:
