Specs: Windows Vista
Hello, friends. I recently acquired this machine and am attempting to upgrade from win 95 to win 98. After installing 98 from and upgrade disk, windows does not recognize the cdrom drive. Using a boot disk, I can access and copy from the cdrom drive in DOS. I went to HP's website and downloaded all the updated drivers and transfered these self-extracting files onto the HD via the cdrom in DOS; however, windows still does not recognize the cdrom. I am not able to discern the cdrom brand from an external visual inspection nor am I able to get in, because of some other conflict issues, windows. I am a bit lost at this point. I feel that some of these conflicts may be resolved by installing 2nd edition which I have from disc. However, as stated above, I cannot access the disc except through DOS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am quickly getting over my head here!

Start by posting your system specs. Do you have more than 512MB?

Yes, we need to know the specs. Possible that you have a CD drive that is connected by means of a sound card. Or you may need to provide the drivers for your motherboard.
