The 1st HDD(10g WD) went out so I bought another 10g WD it worked for a little while then went out.I just bought a 20g Maxtor in Dec.and now its doing the same thing not booting up.Everything was working great until about 2 weeks ago anything you tried to print the printer would lock up anything(nescape, wordpad ect.).When you would turn the computer on it would have to scandisk,(the computer was shut down right everytime). If you would leave the computer on for awhile and come back later it would say Restart Computer. Now it will not boot up at all it doing the same thing the last 2 HDD did,NOTHING.What could be killing these HDD's or is it something I'm doing wrong?Maxtor come with everything to format and all,I did what it said.Help!!!!!

You could be jumping to the wrong conclusion by blaming the hard drives. You could have a different hardware problem. You might want to check your RAM to start with:

Doc memory tester

Boot from a floppy and type
scandisk C: /surface to check the hard drive.

I will try that as soon as I get the computer back to work on it.(My Son has it right now) I'm trying to get some info before I start messing with it again.
Thanks

In the future (if you haven't been doing it), download a diagnostic from the hard drive manufacturers web site before trashing a drive.

I agree with martin on both counts. As well, it could be heat related, (ensure ~all~ fans are working and the clogs of dust are removed from the cpu heat sink fins and all venting ports). It might also be your cmos battery starting to go. Could also be a component in the power supply starting to break down.

Given the suggestions thus far, are there any more specifics you can provide?

The power supply is pretty new. That was the 1st thing that went out on it.I should be able to get the computer in 2 weeks. If this one is doing like the last I could never get it to boot from a floppy.
Thanks Martin & Dan Penny!

P.S. Look for the baldheaded lady yelling for help in a couple of weeks, because I know I will be pulling my hair out.
