I am currently on a home network where I have my XP computer and a Win98 computer attached to a hub. I have cable internet access. On both computers we use Yahoo! Messenger and AIM. I like to leave the XP Pro computer up all the time. However, I have to keep rebooting because I cannot view web pages after a certain amount of time. I get that wonderful message that this page cannot be displayed. When that happens I can still send IM's to ppl. I am using Norton Antivirus that is up to date. I have scanned for viruses, adware, trojans, you name it. I have checked the power options on the computer and I do not have it set to hypernate. This does not happen on the Win98 PC that is in my son's room.
Anyone else have this problem and what can I do to fix it?
Thanks!

It sounds like a problem with your browser. If you are using Internet Explorer on XP, try Firefox (free).

I tried using Firefox. Same result. Could it possibly be something with the network. The modem and router are in another room at the other end of the house. The computer used to be in that room but when my husband moved out I moved my computer into the bedroom where his was and just left everything else where it was. He had originally used a cable that was way longer than he needed. Should the modem and router be moved into the room where my computer is or just try a shorter cable? The computer my son uses which is the Win98 PC has no problems but it is in the room right next to the one where the modem and router are.
Thanks for the help!
