I'm haveing a seriously frustrateing time trying to find a driver that works. I have a Sound Blaster Live! Model CT4830.
I bought this off of ebay without a driver. Anyway I tried the drivers on creatives website but they do not work. It worked at first after a strange installation. And what I mean by strange is that when I was installing it, it asked me where certain files were.. it was ment for the soundcard i suppose. Then after all that it asks me to find a driver for the mouse.. thats the strange part. I get everything setup right and reboot the pc. Now everything seems to work fine, I got sound and all. The biggest problem? When I reboot it hangs after the windows 98 logo.. or even during the logo.. Just sits there like a lump on a log :|. I uninstalled my preveous soundcard driver to see if that was the problem but it still happend.. Any help or maybe a link on finding the "right" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That sounds like a Gateway card...is this it? (see link below) If it is, download the Win98 drivers from the Gateway website:
http://support.gateway.com/s/SOUND/U01017/u0101701.shtml
Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @8x210mhz
512mb PC3200
Ti4200/8X 128mb
WDC 60GB

Actually it says compaq on the back of the board. But its still sound blaster live. I found the file and downloading it at this moment. I'll have to try them tomorrow though. I will let you know if it works or not.
Thanks

If it says Compaq on the back of the card, that's where you should getting the drivers from. If you check the Gateway link I provided, here's what it says at the bottom of the page:
"Note: Gateway OEM product specifications or driver functionality may not be identical to like products purchased from other sources."
I assume this holds true for Compaq OEM hardware as well.

Hmm I'll have to try that if the drivers I downloaded yetserday dont work. Havent had a chance to yet but I will sometime today and I'll let you all know if it worked or not.
Thanks :D
