When I boot up my system, I get an internet explorer box that says it cant view webpage without connection to the internet...And approx every 5-7 minutes I get a pop up from a-d-w-a-r-e.com and the webpages all have wierd addresses that end in neutron or muon. I have tried several programs but cant find what is causing this or how to get rid of it

A lot of malware uses randomly named files that cause detectors to miss them. If this just started happening within the last few days the best thing to do would be to restore a previous registry. That way, even though the files are still there they won't be running.

Start up the computer. Before the OS starts loading start tapping F8. A menu should come up. Choose 'command prompt only'. At the c:\> prompt type scanreg/restore and enter. Then choose to restore a registry with a date that precedes the problem.

Also worth running SpyBot Search & Destroy.

Opt for their hosts file option because a-d-w-a-r-e.com is one of the listed items. This will stop much of their garbage from opening.

Yes, I'm sure Derek & DAVE were just hoping an experienced pro like yourself would chime in (9 days later) with such profoundly original advice.

Way to bring up the rear

We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true
