Comment:

Lately when I turn on my computer, right after it auto-detects the DVD-ROM, I get the error, "HARDWARE MONITOR FOUND AN ERROR, ENTER POWER MANEGEMENT SETUP FOR DETAILS". When I go into the CMOS, I can not find ANY problems at all. When i exit the CMOS, the computer will startup normally, until the next time I power-up. I have an Asus P2B-F motherboard, PIII 500, 128 megs pc100 ram. It used to happen on and off, now it seems to be more frequent. Any help is appreciated.

Try and turn off your power management in your CMOS and see if the problem occurs again.

Have been having the same problem with my ASUS P3B-F for over a month. Only lately, when I go into the BIOS setup, have I found what appears to be an actual error: the -5 Voltage line is reading -5.7V. Is this a bad thing? What do I do to correct it? It doesn't seem to affect the operation of my computer.

I have similar problem as Neil but on a different Asus motherboard, PL97. Even though in the CMOS, Power Management Setup was disable, the problem still persist. I would greatly appreciate if anybody knows the answer.

We have several Asustek's CUSL2-M board based computers on these computers we have observed & we get the error, "HARDWARE MONITOR FOUND AN ERROR, ENTER POWER MANEGEMENT SETUP FOR DETAILS". When I go into the CMOS, we can not find ANY problems at all. When we exit the CMOS, the computer will startup normally without any warning message,There is no solution for this problem at all and no logic is there at all since in the power management CMOS screen there is no problem reported at all.
We dont know what to do !!!? Can somebody help to sort out this ?

Same problem with the A7A266 MB. Is it a temperature problem?

Same problem with a P5A-B. Today is the first time I've seen it (but don't reboot that often), and it is a hot day... perhaps things are getting toasty inside the computer...

I had a similar problem with a motherboard. But only intermittently. When the error did occur sometimes an error would flash up and then dissapear on one of the voltage settings, and sometimes no errors would show. Suspect power spike on the motherboard possibly caused by failing power supply.

I have the same problem on a asus P2B, I noticed it also in the voltages, 1 of them is over, i think the 5V one is , I think its a powerspike or powersupply problem, of what steve said.

I have been having the same problem periodically on my ASUS P2-B. Today, I noticed that the Motherboard Temperature was 122F. The temp was listed with an (Er) next to it on the setup screen. It is hot today, over 90 degrees!

Also, make sure that none of your monitor values are set to 'ignore' so you can read them all. You can change this by selecting the 'ignored' value and using PgUp/PgDn on the setup screen.

Same error on an ASUS A7V133 MB.
Those who do not have it, get mbprobe. This utility takes up very little resources and does a whole lot. For instance:
Actual(ideal)
2.74 (+3.3V)
4.65 (+5V)
9.12!(+12V)
-5.15(-5V)
-12.74(-12V)
Motherboard 78.8 F
CPU 102.2 F w/ a PAL 6035 cooler.

OK, according to a recent source I just read if the voltage is off by 1 volt then you have problems and need to replace the power supply, which is somewhat cheap. I am off about 3 Volts with the +12 V setting which is the voltage controlling the periferals. Occasionally my machine reboots spontaniously. I strongly believe that ASUS makes a crappy board and gets good reviews because they slightly overclock their chips and board reviewers rush to make a review and do not run the mb for a long time before submitting. My first $ is going in to a new power supply and if that does not solve it a new MB brand is definately called for. One that doesnt require endless tweaking.
Hope this help someone. peace

Go into the Hardware Monitor in BIOS. Make sure your CPU Fan Speed is set to IGNORE and Chassis Fan Speed set to IGNORE. Worked for me.
