I recently reinstalled Windows 95. I am now getting a hardware conflict with the Universal Serial Bus Controller which is called the Intel 82371AB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller. The device status says that it is a System Failure: Try changing the driver for this device. If that doesn't work, see your hardware document. (Code 8). I don't know what this means? Is this a serious problem? How do I go about changing the driver? I have a Gateway 2000
E-3000 series. It is a Pentium (r), 64 mega bytes, and 200 megahertz.

Geez maryanne, maybe you should go buy a new computer. If your not using the USB ports for anything, no worries. If you are you need to reinstall the drivers for it. Try removing the offending device from the system and letting windows autodetect it.

Don't buy a new computer just cuz of USB probs. If you loaded the original Win95A (sigh), the only retail version, consider forgetting about USB and just disable it in the BIOS, as well as, if still necessary, in windoze.
If, however, you are blessed with versions characterized by any of the following: 95B, 95C, OSR 2.1, OSR 2.5., then proceed directly to M$ site and download/install this major patch.

Then take 2 aspirins and check back tomorrow.
